It is an uncut and unfiltered Kentucky straight bourbon made with Buffalo Trace's celebrated wheated bourbon recipe, replacing rye with wheat for a richer, softer style beneath its considerable barrel strength.

Distilled in the spring of 2002, the 2014 William Larue Weller was aged for 12 years and 3 months before being bottled in the fall of 2014. Just 39 barrels were selected for the release, drawn from the second, third, fourth, and sixth floors of Buffalo Trace Warehouses D, K, and L. The combination of extended aging, substantial evaporation, and barrel-proof bottling produced an exceptionally concentrated expression of Weller.

Despite its remarkable proof, the 2014 release is prized for far more than sheer intensity. Dark molasses, caramel and toffee lead into ripe plum and other dark-fruit notes, with toasted oak, baking spice, vanilla and deeper roasted flavors developing across the palate.
