Distilled in the winter of 2005, the 2017 release matured for approximately 12 years and 6 months before being bottled in the fall of 2017. Buffalo Trace selected 155 barrels for the release from Warehouses D, I, and P. The bourbon entered its barrels at 114 proof and, after more than twelve years of maturation and significant evaporation, emerged at a natural barrel strength of 128.2 proof.

The 2017 William Larue Weller delivers the dense, layered character for which the Antique Collection's wheated bourbon has become known. Buffalo Trace described the release with prominent notes of toffee, marshmallow, and leather.
