Bottlings from earlier decades were bottled at higher proofs, 90 and later 86, before today's standard 80, and drinkers consistently describe dusty-era Jack Daniel's as richer and more characterful. Black Label is the richer flagship; Green Label was a lighter, less mature selection that developed a cult following before becoming scarce.
