Provenance Guarantee

Provenance is the documented chain of ownership and storage for a specific bottle. It underwrites authenticity and quality.

Recognized as Best Wine Shop in Los Angeles by Los Angeles Magazine and featured on Gayot's Best Wine Stores in Los Angeles list, Flask holds dozens of Wine Searcher Gold Awards and maintains a 4.9/5 rating on Trustpilot. Since 1962, we've served collectors with uncompromising standards.

Careful sourcing

We acquire from collectors, domaines, importers, and distributors with verifiable records. Relationships are long term. Standards are absolute.

Expert inspection

Pre-purchase, we meet consignors and inspect cellars. On intake, each bottle is reviewed for fill level, capsule integrity, cork branding, label stock and print, and any sign of tampering. Tools include UV inspection, high-resolution macro imaging, and lot ID checks to validate identity and chain of custody.

Traceability with RFID

Every bottle and case receives a serialized lot ID tied to source documents. We apply barcodes and RFID tags to maintain end-to-end traceability through intake, storage, and fulfillment. Chain-of-custody events are logged and auditable. Additional layers of packaging with tamper-evident seals are used for select bottles.

Proper storage

High-security, climate-controlled facilities maintain constant temperature and humidity. Backup HVAC and power systems ensure uninterrupted conditions. All storage areas are UV-protected and vibration-isolated. Temperature and humidity sensors provide continuous monitoring with automated alerts. Wines remain stable from intake through fulfillment, whether stored for days, months, or years.

In-person inspection available

Visit our Los Angeles locations to inspect any listed bottle before purchase. Examine fill level, capsule condition, label authenticity, and storage environment firsthand. Unlike online-only retailers, we invite scrutiny- it's the ultimate validation of our standards.

Customer support

Provenance questions are answered directly by our team of wine specialists (including Advanced Sommeliers and WSET-certified professionals) who have direct knowledge of our inventory and sourcing. Pre-purchase, we can discuss specific bottles, provide condition assessments, or arrange in-person viewings at any of our Los Angeles locations. For significant acquisitions, we offer in-home consultation and cellar assessment; we come to you. Post-purchase, we address any concerns about authenticity, condition, or storage history. Lot history, inspection notes, and storage logs are available on request.
