It's one family of whiskeys produced at Buffalo Trace. Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year and Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year (Lot B) are the younger expressions, alongside Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye 13 Year. The Pappy Van Winkle name applies to the 15, 20, and 23 year bourbons. All bourbons in the range use the famous wheated mashbill.

Supply is tiny and fixed years in advance: wheated bourbon aged 15 to 23 years cannot be rushed, and annual allocations sell out instantly through lotteries and waiting lists. Demand exploded after decades of perfect scores and press, so bottles almost never appear at suggested retail.
