BTAC is Buffalo Trace's annual flagship release of five whiskeys: George T. Stagg, William Larue Weller, Eagle Rare 17, Sazerac Rye 18, and Thomas H. Handy. Released each fall in strictly limited quantities, it's the most anticipated event in American whiskey, with each bottle accompanied by a release letter documenting its production.

Two barrel-proof monsters: Stagg (15+ year rye-recipe bourbon) and Weller (12 year wheated). Two elegant elders: Eagle Rare 17 and Sazerac Rye 18, both around 90 proof. And Handy, the young cask-strength rye firecracker. Together they map the entire spectrum of great American whiskey, which is why complete sets are so coveted.

Production of 15-to-18-year whiskey was decided nearly two decades ago, so supply is fixed while demand has multiplied. Allocations to stores are tiny, lotteries decide most retail sales, and bottles essentially never sit on shelves.
