Ardnamurchan AD/10 Highland Single Malt Scotch
The Highland distillery has launched a 10-year-old whisky for its 10th anniversary. This wonderfully balanced release is unpeated and aged in Champagne Paul Launois barriques, resulting in notes of pineapples, honeycomb, meringue, dried figs, refreshers, and white chocolate.
Ardnamurchan Distillery is a Western Highlands single malt Scotch distillery in the small village of Glenbeg on the peninsula from which it takes its name. It was founded in 2014 by the independent bottler Adelphi Selection, largely as a response to the scarcity on the market of aged casks of whisky from other distilleries.
The core profile is genetle peat smoke, richness, oil, honey, fruit and salinity. The Highlands is by far, the largest whisky-producing region of Scotland in terms of area. The terroir of the Highlands is well-suited to whisky, illustrated by over 40 different distilleries spread across the region, including some of Scotland's oldest. The region, as defined by the Scotch Whisky Association, covers all the land north of an imaginary line running between the estuaries of the rivers Clyde and Tay.
This wide geographical area of rugged mountains, moorlands and dramatic coastline dotted with fjords, cliffs and peninsulas includes the offshore islands as well. Inherently, there is a diverse spectrum of whisky produced.
