A village in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits district – produces some of the world's most prestigious and expensive red wines. The village is home to nine grand cru vineyards, comfortably more than any other Burgundy village. Eight of these feature "Chambertin" somewhere in their name, in homage to the most respected among them: Chambertin Grand Cru.

The village was originally called just Gevrey, but in 1847 the parish council added the name of the most prestigious local vineyard, Le Chambertin. This started a trend that ran the length of the Côte d'Or, right down to the "Montrachets" (Puligny and Chassagne) in the south. There are now 11 Côte d'Or villages whose names refer to their most prestigious vineyard site.

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.

Otherwise, it would be unsafe to ship in those conditions. We can also hold your shipment at no charge for up to one year upon request. We flag temps above 72 °F or below 32 °F as extreme.
