Shenks Homestead Sour Mash Whiskey 2024 750ml
In a hat tip to American whiskey forefather John Shenk, who founded a distillery in 1753 that was later to become Michter's, Shenk's Homestead 2024 Release Kentucky Sour Mash Whiskey features a rye-heavy mashbill with touches of malted rye, caramel malt, and other unique grains. The spirit aged in French oak sourced from the Vosges forest and was bottled at 91.2 proof. Only 2,002 bottles were produced.
Shenk’s Homestead Sour Mash whiskey is an annual limited time offering (LTO) from Michter’s. The name is derived from the original name of the distillery when it was located in Pennsylvania. Back then, Shenk’s would have been known for distilling rye whiskey. Michter’s decided to revive the name but instead of bottling a rye whiskey, the contents are labeled as a “Sour Mash Whiskey.”
