Originally barreled as a private reserve for a wedding hosted on the legendary Destilería La Fortaleza estate, the liquid was meant for only a brief finish in a European oak ex-Oloroso sherry cask. However, when events in 2020 forced the celebration to be postponed, the tequila remained in the wood for an unintended 18 months. The result is a masterful accidental masterpiece: a high-proof assemblage combining 75% traditional, estate-aged Reposado with 25% of this profoundly dark, long-rested wedding juice, bottled entirely additive-free at a distinct 41.6% ABV (83.2 Proof).Following the wedding, the family commercialized the remaining leftover stash under the traditional Mexican domestic "Los Abuelos" label, dedicating the limited release to local street dog rescues.
