First introduced by Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee, Blanton’s helped define the modern single-barrel bourbon category in the United States. This bottle comes from the Ancient Age era of the distillery, before the site was renamed Buffalo Trace by Sazerac in 1999.
This is a vintage 1991 bottling of Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon, dumped on May 31, 1991. Early Blanton’s bottlings are sought after because they represent an earlier production period at what is now Buffalo Trace Distillery. Notably, this 1991 release predates the collectible eight-letter stopper set introduced in 1999, making its original unlettered stopper a key identifier of its era.
Blanton’s is aged in Warehouse H, the distillery’s metal-clad warehouse commissioned under Albert B. Blanton. The warehouse is known for more dramatic temperature swings than traditional brick warehouses, contributing to faster maturation and a distinctive barrel-aging environment.
