Negroamaro is such an intriguing and wonderful grape. Grown abundantly in its native Puglia (the heel of the boot), they are always stoked to work with fruit from the little patch of it planted and organically farmed at Fox Hill Vineyard in Mendocino. Loosely translating to “dark bitter,” the grapes are actually not especially dark, but there is a pleasant bitterness that comes through on the palate (think cherry pits or plum skins), making it the perfect choice for a super complex rosato.

Michael Richardson spent the better part of 30 years in the hospitality industry where he developed a love of wine. The bulk of that time was in Vegas, where life was too easy. Folks in the hospitality industry there call it the ‘Golden Handcuffs,’ where you earn just enough money to be comfortable. 

Thomas DeBiase packed up and moved to Sonoma County from the Garden State back in 2006 and has since made wine, managed restaurant wine programs and even directed sales and hospitality across multiple brands at a large wine organization. But it wasn’t until 2018 that he found a small corner of the industry that felt right at Idlewild Wines.  That decision to cast off corporate wine was the best decision of his life.

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
