2015 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Bourgogne Chardonnay

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is the eldest son of Marc Colin. He used to work at the domaine of his family from 1994 until 2005, but already in 2001, he established a négociant business together with his wife Caroline. In 2005 Colin-Morey started his own Domaine, with 6 Ha of vineyards from Marc Colin, which was his share.

Pierre-Yves has most of his own vineyards in and around the small villages of Saint-Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune. But his complete range of wines also includes Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault and the Grands Crus Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and even Le Montrachet, all produced from bought-in grapes.

All his wines are kept in barrels for up to 18 months and the bottles are sealed with wax on top of the corks. The wines are also bottled without filtration. His own holdings include several parcels in the 1er Crus from Saint-Aubin such as “La Chatenière”, “En Remilly” and “Les Champlots”. In Chassagne-Montrachet, Colin-Morey has plots in the 1er Cru vineyards “Les Chevenottes” and “Caillerets”. The majority of his wines are produced from the Chardonnay grape, but Colin-Morey also produces some red wines from Pinot Noir from Saint-Aubin and Santenay.

Critical Acclaim

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Pierre-Yves Colin's 2015 Bourgogne Chardonnay is a lovely wine in this vintage, offering up a classy bouquet of preserved lemon, fresh pear, wheat toast and a judicious top note of smoky reduction. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and quite tense for the vintage and appellation, with a bright line of acidity, good depth and intensity, and a precise finish. A lovely introduction to the house style. I followed a bottle from my own cellar over three days, and the last glass was the best.

Wine Spectator

Ripe and lush, sporting peach, melon and toasted spice aromas and flavors, this is tangy, lingering nicely on the finish.
