Bowmore is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery founded in 1779 on the Isle of Islay, Scotland, making it one of the oldest licensed distilleries in the country. The distillery malts a portion of its own barley over peat sourced from local Islay bogs, producing a characteristically maritime, phenolic spirit that is matured in seaside warehouses partially below sea level. Cask finishing plays a significant role across the range, with the Bowmore 15 Year Darkest Sherry Cask Finished and the Sherry Oak Cask 12 Year both relying on Oloroso influence. The 1964 Oloroso Cask 38 Year Old and the 1989 Port Cask 23 Year represent the distillery's long-aged vintage tier, while the Bowmore 12 Year serves as the accessible foundation of the range against the extended aging of the 25 Year Old and the 30 Year Old Sea Dragon.
