Puligny-Montrachet sits in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune and lends its name to a village appellation established in 1937. Domaine Jomain’s 2024 bottling is made from Chardonnay, the principal white grape cultivated under this renowned communal designation.
The spiritual home of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Wines here are shaped by the region's cooler continental climate and its complex patchwork of appellations – from regional Bourgogne to village-level and the Premier and Grand Cru vineyards that sit at the very top of the quality pyramid. Burgundy also represents some of the best value in French wine at the regional level, consistently over-delivering relative to prestige.
Jomain is the fruit comes from vineyards surrounding Puligny-Montrachet, giving the wine a level of precision and minerality that's difficult to find at this price. It isn't trying to imitate Puligny-Montrachet, it simply benefits from the same limestone-rich soils and the same meticulous attention in both the vineyard and cellar.
In a vintage like 2024, the classic citrus-leaning, green-apple minerality and freshness are on full display. These are the flavors I'm always looking for, and 20 years ago this is exactly what you came to expect from white Burgundy. Today we see a vintage like this maybe every five years or so, and I fear it's becoming rarer all the time.
Fresh and floral fragrances green apple, lemon. The palate is dominantly acidulous, sought after for its goulish and fresh appearance.
