Louis XIII 1950s "Age Unknown" / Age Inconnu Tres Vieille Grande Champagne Cognac
Please note that although the rare original box is included with this bottle, the box is worn and shows signs of age
This mid century bottling of “Très Vieille Age Inconnu” comes in its classic Baccarat decanter with the original cellophane wrap and tricolor hangtag. The English export plaque reads “Very Old, Age unknown, Produce of France,” which is the giveaway for a 1955 to 1965 window. It is a beautiful time capsule and a serious collector piece.
On the palate, bottles from this era typically show deep rancio with layers of dried fig, date, orange oil, walnut, cedar humidor, worn leather, and a long honeyed finish. The texture is silken. Open it for a milestone, or keep it as the crown of a Cognac collection. Either way, it has presence.
Pro tip
Stand the bottle upright for a week before opening. Ease the stopper out slowly, then taste gently at cool room temperature in a tulip glass. If you plan to pour, decant through fine mesh to catch any cork dust.
Note: This is a very old vintage collector's item with an intact seal. The cork's condition upon opening cannot be guaranteed. Sold as-is.
