This single barrel is different. It has the most distinct flavor profile of any of our whiskeys and was bottled at barrel strength to capture every nuance of this one-of-a-kind spirit. Our distillery’s triple filtration process ensures perfection in every sip. Distilled, aged and bottled in middle Tennessee, home of premier master distiller and teacher, Nearest Green.

Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey is a brand of Tennessee whiskey, produced in honor of the first-known African American master distiller, Nathan Green also known as Uncle Nearest or Nearest Green. The brand produces a range of whiskeys led by the 1856 Premium Aged Whiskey. 

Nearest Green is widely attributed as the Tennessee slave who taught a young Jack Daniel how to make whiskey. Nearest Green was the first master distiller for the Jack Daniel Distillery after the Civil War in 1865. He was a pivotal figure in developing the Lincoln County Press of which is a filtering method used to produce a majority of Tennesee whiskey.

Depending on the bottle and destination, we use a combination of insulated foam box inserts, custom-fit air column bags, and heavy-weight cardboard shippers to prevent damage. For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
