William Larue Weller, born in 1825, spent most of his life educating the public on his first-of-its-kind bourbon recipe using wheat in the mash bill. Weller’s gentle, mild and smooth sipping experience changed whiskey as we know it. Try the very best of the modern-day WL Weller with this outstanding lineup. Tasting Notes:
Weller Single Barrel has a nose of cherry and mint, fading to vanilla. Caramel and baking spices with hints of cocoa explode on the palate, with a finish of cinnamon, coffee, and a hint of pepper.
Weller Full Proof is bottled at the same 114 proof the spirit was when it entered into the barrel. This non-chill filtered wheated bourbon forgoes chill filtration to preserve all the naturally occurring residual oils and flavors that occur during the distillation and aging process. Having a nose of vanilla, dark cherries and caramel. On the palate, there is a balance of caramel and toasted oak. The finish is long, with notes of crème brûlée and chocolate.
Weller CYPB was released after an overwhelming consensus in 2015, when Buffalo Trace launched their "Craft Your Perfect Bourbon" website, inviting fans to craft a bourbon from start to finish, choose your warehouse, age and proof at bottling. Of the 100,239 people who took part in this fun little experiment, the vast majority settled on the same criteria: a wheated bourbon aged for 8 years at the top of the warehouse and bottled between 90 and 99 proof. Thousands chose wheated bourbon, just like William Larue Weller did years ago.
Given the clear and overwhelming demand for such a product, Buffalo Trace went ahead and created the Weller Craft Your Perfect Bourbon, or C.Y.P.B. for short, their first new Weller product since acquiring the brand.
“This limited edition whiskey is the result of the overwhelming consensus—a wheated recipe bourbon, aged on the highest warehouse floors for eight years and bottled at 95 proof.” A light aroma with citrus and oak on the nose. The palate is well rounded and balanced, with a medium-long finish and hints of vanilla.
