Svensk Ek is a rare gem when it comes to character. The powerful Swedish oak casks and all-natural Swedish ingredients bring notes of dried ginger, sweet caramel and spicy oak. Never before had one matured whisky in virgin Swedish Oak casks. The result was a whisky full of flavour, yet subtle. The cell structure and shape of lactones in Swedish oak differs compared to American oak and is the reason behind its unique character. In Sweden, we say ”Why cross the river to fetch water?”. And Mackmyra is no exception.The barley is Swedish and the yeast is the same Swedish yeast that you will find in every Swedish household. Last but not least, we use crystal clear water from the Valbo ridge – naturally filtered through pebblestones. TASTING NOTES Nose: Fruity aroma of pear, apricot, and zesty citrus. Sweet tones of vanilla fudge and honey. Spicier tones of ginger and pepper. Taste: The taste lives up to the promise of the aroma with pear, citrus, and dried ginger. The sweet tones now lean towards caramel, sweet almonds, and slightly bready notes. The taste also reveals spicy oak influences. Aftertaste: The aftertaste is long and warming. Sweet milk chocolate balances the robust oak influences and the spicy pepper and ginger.

Yes. During periods of extreme heat, we can include optional ice packs in our insulated shippers and select an overnight shipping service & a Weather Waiver. Otherwise, it would be unsafe to ship in those conditions. We can also hold your shipment at no charge for up to one year upon request. We flag temps above 72 °F or below 32 °F as extreme.
