“A bright, pure style, with damson plum and cassis notes pierced by a racy chalky streak, ending with light floral nuances on the finish. Not big in scale, but very precise. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2026.”
The 2016 Le Dragon de Quintus is Château Quintus’s second wine, crafted from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It’s sourced from limestone and gravel soils on Saint-Émilion’s plateau, vinified with precise temperature control, and aged ~12 months in French oak (c.29% new).
Medium to deep garnet-purple. Intense blackberry preserves, wild blueberry, plums, complemented by sous-bois touches—new leather, menthol, pencil shavings, and pressed florals. Initially tight, it blossoms with aeration. Medium-bodied with velvety tannins. Rich black- and blue-fruit flavors are framed by white pepper, clove, menthol and mineral tones. The crisp finish offers spice and refined, grainy structure.
