Burgess Cellars Mountaineer Red Blend Howell Mountain 2014

The Mountaineer is inspired by the historic cuvées of Bordeaux, where vignerons blended Syrah from the legendary hill of Hermitage with Cabernet Sauvignon from the Médoc. Syrah’s black olive and smoked meat notes are polished and refined by the graceful structure of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Complex aromas of boysenberry, gravel, earth and bouquet garni with red fruit essence that continually changes in the glass. Oceans of blueberry are the base of this full palate wine with cherry, raspberry, cola, cocoa, anise and strawberry notes. Savory, briary, dried flowers, full bodied and rich on the finish, this wine is incredibly smooth with good acidity. Blend 46% Syrah, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 3% Petite Sirah.

Depending on the bottle and destination, we use a combination of insulated foam box inserts, custom-fit air column bags, and heavy-weight cardboard shippers to prevent damage. For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
