Rye whiskey has been part of drinking culture in the United States for centuries. Before bourbon took over, rye was the grain that shaped early American distilling — lean, spicy, and sturdy enough to thrive in the mid‑Atlantic and Northeast. Rye whiskey was the spirit poured in colonial taverns and early gathering places. Although the liquor largely disappeared after Prohibition, distilleries including Bulleit have worked to put more bottles of rye on shelves in the 21st century.

Created in 2026 as America celebrated its 250th anniversary, this extraordinary limited release honors the historic role rye played in early American whiskey. Bulleit released exactly 1,776 individually numbered bottles — a direct reference to 1776 and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The oldest straight rye Bulleit has ever released, it's made from the brand's signature 95% rye, 5% malted barley mash bill, distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and matured two decades in Kentucky warehouses. Careful barrel selection let the whiskey develop substantial mature oak and dark-fruit complexity while keeping the bold spice and structure that define Bulleit Rye. Bottled at natural cask strength, 68.5% ABV (137 proof).

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
