This 10-year, 115-proof limited edition celebrates Bernheim’s 20th anniversary. Rich, mature character with throwback packaging that honors the original bottle and showcases the brand’s craftsmanship.

Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey is named in honor of the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. Bernheim Distillery was founded in 1992 by United Distillers (who became Diageo in 1997), and then sold to Heaven Hill and renamed Heaven Hill Bernheim Distillery in 1999. It would later become Heaven Hill’s primary distillery after the 1996 distillery fire destroyed Heaven Hill’s Bardstown Distillery along with 90,000 barrels of whiskey. Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey was first released in 2005, and according to Heaven Hill, is “the first new style of American Whiskey to be introduced since Prohibition.”  

By definition, wheat whiskey is similar to the definition of bourbon whiskey, except that it swaps bourbon’s minimum 51% corn requirement for a minimum 51% wheat requirement. Unlike bourbon, wheat whiskey does not need to be a product of the United States. Like bourbon, to be labelled “straight” wheat whiskey must be aged in new charred oak containers for at least two years and the product of a single state.

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.

Yes. During periods of extreme heat, we can include optional ice packs in our insulated shippers and select an overnight shipping service & a Weather Waiver. Otherwise, it would be unsafe to ship in those conditions. We can also hold your shipment at no charge for up to one year upon request. We flag temps above 72 °F or below 32 °F as extreme.
