Grown in volcanic soils on estate-owned vineyards climbing the southwest-facing slopes of Mount St. Helena, this Cabernet Sauvignon comes from elevations of 700–950 ft in Knights Valley. It shows a brilliant ruby-violet core and bright violet rim, with aromas of crunchy boysenberry, juicy black plum, roasted espresso bean, dark baking cocoa, herbes de Provence, and baking spices; electric acidity, wet stone minerality, and mouth-watering tannins drive a layered, complex finish.

Grown in the volcanic soils of our estate-owned vineyards, Anakota Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon embodies the rustic spirit of rural Sonoma County. Our vineyards climb the southwest-facing slopes of 4,300ft. Mount St. Helena, and are surrounded by a wilderness of cold mountain streams and forests of native fir and oak. The message of our soil is conveyed in every bottle.

Tasting Notes

Showing a brilliant ruby-violet core with a bright violet rim, the appearance of 2023 Anakota Cabernet Sauvignon immediately signals the vibrancy and concentration of the 2023 vintage. High-toned aromas of crunchy boysenberry, juicy black plum, and roasted espresso bean are joined by dark baking cocoa, freshly ground herbes de Provence, and subtle baking spices. These flavors race across the palate, lifted by electric acidity and wet stone minerality. Mouth-watering tannins provide a firm structure, driving to a layered, complex finish.

Vigneron Notes

An exceptionally long and cool growing season, 2023 produced wines of both power and elegance. The winter months following the conclusion of vintage 2022 delivered abundant rainfall, finally breaking the multi-year drought. This cool, wet pattern persisted well into the spring, delaying the onset of budbreak and signaling a late start to the growing season. Though flowering occurred six weeks later than average, fruit set was even, and supported by healthy canopy development. The summer months that followed were warm, with plentiful sunshine, allowing veraison to commence by the middle of August. Fortunately, September and October brought sunny, mild weather, allowing for an extended hang time and full maturity of the fruit. The resulting wines are saturated with color and flavor, yet focused by vibrant natural acidity and moderate alcohol. They possess uncommon balance and length.
