One of the greatest last generation Rioja reds, Cirsion was born in 1995, when in Roda wineries they perceived a very different character in some of the oldest vines in the vineyard: more vinous sensations, volume, complexity ... After years of tests and studies , the team led by Agustín Santolaya concluded that the difference lies in the level of polymerization of tannins in the grape itself, which plays a substitute role for aging. That is why the winery decided to produce the fruit of these strains separately, giving rise to this wine. Contrary to what happens with other "superriojans", which abound in concentration and power, Cirsion seeks excellence in elegance and complexity, and in a fineness and aromatic richness that is revealed even when the wine is young.

"Roda's super cuvée, from some of the oldest vineyards, literally chosen vine by vine, this has 14% Graciano in the blend, this is fermented in French oak and stays eight months in all new barrels. Delicious red fruit brightness and elegance, darker notes and hints of balsamic and chocolate. In the mouth, superb sweet fruit, edged with a mocha and bittersweet cocoa depth, and sweetly ripe tannins. This has a smoky mineral salinity in the background too, in a long, complex, silky and profound wine that drinks beautifully now but has the structure, fruit and balance to cellar for considerable time." - 96/100, Tom Cannavan
