Seagrams 1776 Tiffany Decanter Premium Whiskey (1976)
Seagram's was a Canadian distillery and beverage company which was a major player in the global spirits industry in the 20th century. Founded in 1857, the company ran for over 150 years until it was dissolved in 2000.
On America's 200th birthday in 1976, Seagram Distillers Company proudly presented a limited edition of a very special Premium American Whiskey.
Seagram decided that they wanted to mark America's bicentennial uniquely, so they decided to create a special kind of whiskey. Seagram, as the largest distiller in America at the time, maintained the largest library of ageing whiskies. From this vast inventory, they were able to select limited quantities of very special whiskies and bring them to proper maturity.
After they created "1776" they decided that a whiskey this special deserved a decanter. So they commissioned Tiffany & Co., one of America's oldest and foremost designers, to create a crystal decanter that portrays the proud heritage, tradition and craftsmanship of America.
