Chianti Classico Collection 2022 will present the Additional Geographical Units of Chianti Classico.

The Additional Geographical Units project is an important stage in the process of enhancing the distinctive characteristics of Chianti Classico: a path which, in recent years, has taken the Black Rooster denomination ever higher up the international rankings of quality wines, increasing its fame, prestige and popularity on tables all over the world.

This new subdivision of the Chianti Classico production territory into more restricted and more homogeneous areas will lead us to indicate the name of the additional Geographical Unit on the label, reinforcing communication of the wine-territory combination, increasing quality in terms of identity and territoriality, allowing the consumer to know where the grapes come from. 

eleven areas have been identified and delimited within the Chianti Classico production area, distinguished on the basis of a unique combination of natural factors (soil composition, microclimate, vineyard location, etc.) and human factors (cultural history, local traditions, community spirit).

For the first time in Italy, this edition of the Chianti Classico Collection presents the 180 participating producers and their wines according to this new geographical division.

The 2022 Chianti Classico is laced with ripe red cherry fruit, spice, mint, cedar and pipe tobacco. This supple, inviting wine offers a good bit of near- and medium-term drinking pleasure. Pretty floral overtones lend brightness to this inviting 2022.

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.

Yes. During periods of extreme heat, we can include optional ice packs in our insulated shippers and select an overnight shipping service & a Weather Waiver. Otherwise, it would be unsafe to ship in those conditions. We can also hold your shipment at no charge for up to one year upon request. We flag temps above 72 °F or below 32 °F as extreme.
