Ardbeg Limited Edition 1975 OB
Distilled in 1975 at the Ardbeg distillery on Islay and bottled in the year 2000, this single malt as part of a limited release was bottled at 43% abv and scored 9/10 by the legendary whisky writer Michael Jackson.
Given the success and cult-like fan base that Ardbeg has recently enjoyed, it is almost impossible to imagine that the distillery was closed, on and off, for 15 years until it was purchased by Glenmorangie. Sitting on the southern coastline, the current distillery was founded in 1815, the original having been destroyed by excise men. The Ardbeg spirit still is fitted with a purifier which many believe accounts for its fruity, zesty character. Released shortly after Glenmorangie took over at Ardbeg. The Ardbeg Online shop called it "fabulous, absolutely divine" with Michael Jackson (of whisky fame, not the singing and dancing one) scoring it a high 9 out of 10.
Softer than modern Ardbeg, with almonds eucalyptus, tar and phenol notes. Tropical fruits coated with tar and orange marmalade, followed by characteristic Ardbeg peat, smoke sea salt and medicinal aspects. Long and salty with a citrus edge.

A wine list from Flask published in the early 1970s
Driving down Ventura Blvd in Studio City in the 1960’s has something in common with today, Flask Fine Wine & Whisky- Flask first opened its doors to the public in 1962. Decades later and it still remains a respected fixture in the Los Angeles community.
We work directly with the wineries, distilleries and breweries to maintain a personal relationship with the creators of some of our favorite products.
We want to know their stories and how they produce bottles that fit into our unique collection. We make a point to keep our selection stocked with a wide variety, offering your classic Napa icons to your natural & organic wines.
We like to think of our whiskey and spirit section as more of a library where the rarest of bottles can be found.
We look forward to helping you find your next favorite bottle!
