Kavalan is a Taiwanese single malt whisky distillery founded in 2005 and located in Yilan County, at the foot of the Central Mountain Range, where consistent cool mountain water feeds production. The distillery matures all expressions in new and used oak under Taiwan's subtropical heat, which accelerates interaction between spirit and wood far beyond what temperate climates allow. The Solist range represents the distillery's cask-specific program, with the Solist ex-Bourbon Single Cask, Solist Sherry Single Cask, and Solist Port Cask each bottled from individual barrels at cask strength. The Vinho Barrique Cask Strength extends that single-cask philosophy through Portuguese wine barrel finishing. Kavalan Classic and Distillery Select serve as the approachable foundation of the range, while Concertmaster adds a port cask finish before the Solist expressions reach their full barrel-proof intensity.
