Domaine Latour-Giraud Champ Canet Puligny-Montrachet 2012

Domaine Latour-Giraud is a wine producer based in the town of Meursault in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or heartland. The estate produces a range of labels from local and neighboring vineyard sites, predominantly based on the local mainstay: Chardonnay, although a number of red, Pinot Noir wines are also made.

The domaine vineyards cover around 10 hectares (25 acres), with roughly 85 percent given over to white wines in the Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Bourgogne Blanc appellations. The remainder is Pinot Noir, grown in Meursault and neighboring Volnay and Pommard.

Among Meursault Premier Cru sites, Latour-Giraud has a 2.5-hectare (6.1-acre) holding in the well-regarded Genevrières vineyard as well as plots in Perrières, Charmes, Poruzots and Bouchères. The domaine also produces a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru: Champs-Canet.

Critical Acclaim

92 Vinous 

Pale lemon-yellow. Shy aromas of white peach and hazelnut. Juicy, dry and penetrating, boasting excellent cut to the peach and salty mineral flavors. A strong element of lemony extract contributes to the impression of a firm structure. Real Puligny spine here, even a bit austere for 2012. The long finish features a lovely floral lift. Classic Puligny, and quite distinct in character from Latour's Meursault premier crus in 2012.
