Translating to “white crane” in Ainu, ‘Saronunkamuy’ is the first official single malt release from Akkeshi Distillery, located in a National Park on the northern Hokkaido Island of Japan. Aged in Mizunara, bourbon, sherry, and red wine casks, this expression took home a Double Gold from 2020’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition in the “Other Single Malt” category. Aged a minimum of 3 years and exhibiting notes of strawberry, chocolate, yuzu, cherries, & vanilla, it’s a true delight to taste the single malt evolution of Akkeshi’s previous “New Born” releases.
