2017 Pierre Menard Clos de Mailles 1.5L Magnum

There is three parcels in this one vineyard – one is 25 years old, one is 100 years old and the other is 8 years old. This is textbook, modern Chenin Blanc. Pierre works very hard not to have botrytis fruit in the wines. He likes it clean and pristine as to not detract from the mineral component. This is all about yellow plum, quince, flint, smoke and talc. Super complexity and highly attractive wine. The palate is racy, long and beautifully complex. I highly recommend these wines. They are some of the most exciting wines I tried in 2019 and Im delighted to be working with Pierre.
