Dirty Baby

Introducing our new Dirty Baby Wines — 2016 Viognier & 2016 Red Blend

The Dirty Baby wines are the result of a collaboration between Jeff Strauss, chef/owner of Jeff’s Table Modern Deli and acclaimed Napa Winemaker, Charles Thomas, of Quintessa, Faust, Rudd, Cardinale, Lokoya among others. The goal was to create a pair of bold, fun and delicious wines that match beautifully with the kinds of foods Jeff loves to serve (and eat!) and also taste fantastic all on their own — because, let’s face it, sometimes you just want the wine.

A blend of co-fermented Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Petit Sirah & Viongier

Jeff’s note: Rhone-blends like this one remind me of the wines my dad used to let me take sips of when I was growing up. He’d mix mine with a little water (alright a lot of water). Now I can have the real stuff. I think you’ll taste what I love about this: dark, red plum, black cherry, star anise and touches of cinnamon and a little peppery spice. Serve from lightly chilled to room temperature. This is that ideal "bottle with a burger” wine that would hold its own with a steak or chop fresh off the grill or a killer mushroom risotto.

Pairs great with: (in addition to steak or burgers) smoky ribs, grilled pork, lamb, roast duck, smoked chicken or turkey, grilled vegetables, mushrooms, roast squashes...
Cheeses: Aged Gouda, Parmesan, Gruyere, Cheddar or your favorite stinky cheese (mine is Epoisse!)

Jeff’s Table sandwich pairings: Jeff’s Special (pastrami reuben), Dirty Baby, MushRooben

Dirty Baby 2016 Viognier

Jeff’s note: Viognier is my favorite white. This has classic Viognier flavors of summer peach and apricot with aromas of Jasmine and honeysuckle and maybe a hint of ripe melon. Serve from lightly-chilled to just below room temperature. Perfect at a picnic or a barbecue or on a date or holiday table or with a late-night grilled cheese on crusty bread.

Pairs beautifully with Moroccan spices, mild or medium curries, grilled pork, roast chicken or turkey, scallops, salmon, roasted squashes or root vegetables…
Cheeses: Rogue River Blue, French Comté, triple creams like Brie, St. André or Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam.

Jeff’s Table sandwich pairings: Dirty Baby, Pumpkin Spice, Yuzu Kosho Turkey…
