Maison Ilan is a négociant producer based in Nuits-St-Georges who is dedicated to premier cru and grand cru bottlings in a style that honors traditional Burgundies. The goal in the cellar is to express terroir as clearly as possible by use of open-top wooden tanks, native yeast fermentation, and little-to-no use of pumps or new oak barrels.
Les Chaffots is a Premier Cru climat within the small Côte de Nuits appellation of Morey-Saint-Denis. The vineyard is planted mostly to Pinot Noir, making a fruit-driven and characterful red wine that has less concentration and body than Morey-Saint-Denis' Grand Cru wines.
