2013 Domaine Jacques Prieur Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, Cote de Nuits
Domaine Jacques Prieur is a relatively large Burgundy producer that makes both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from esteemed vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune.
The history of the domaine began in the 1860s, with the marriage of Claude Duvergey and Marie Taboureau. They first established the wine and spirits merchant business, Duvergey-Taboureau House, before buying property in Meursault – now the site of the modern Jacques Priuer domaine.
Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru wines are those produced under the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation, exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes grown on Premier Cru-classified vineyard sites. Gevrey-Chambertin, a village in the Cote de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy, boasts 26 such vineyards, either side of the village of Gevrey on the slopes of the Côte d'Or hill.
