Vineyard 29 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon St Helena 2019
Deeply saturated in color, the 2019 Ceanda Cabernet Sauvignon immediately charms with a bouquet of black currants, cassis, cocoa powder and violets. This full-bodied wine seamlessly weaves around the palate with layers of anise, fresh coffee grounds, black cherries and pops of violets. Concentrated and rich but never losing its freshness, look for plushness from its predominantly cabernet blend and intriguing savory notes from the cabernet franc and petit verdot. All of these textures and flavors culminate on a high note before gracefully transitioning into a sweepingly long finish. Plenty of intensity and supreme age ability but with an earlier approachability than the single vineyard estate wines. Quite simply, delicious.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon 29 Estate, 100% Cabernet, shows just how special this site in northern St. Helena planted in 1989 with Grace clone Cabernet is. Copious blackberry jam, espresso, chocolate, licorice and cloves saturate the palate. Readers will find a truly distinctive Cabernet built on aromatic intensity, huge fruit and equally potent tannins. Give it a few years to soften.

Just about pure perfection, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon 29 Estate offers an incredibly pure, nuanced, and complex as well as full-bodied style that’s just about impossible to resist. All Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate vineyard outside of St. Helena, aged 20 months in 85% new French oak, it offers ample cassis and darker currant-like fruits as well as violets, graphite, and freshly sharpened pencils. As seamless as they come, with beautiful tannins, it already offers pleasure today, yet I see no reason it won’t cruise for 20-25 years or more in cold cellars. There are 520 cases produced.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon 29 Estate, from the original vineyard on an east-facing slope just north of the town of St. Helena, is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in 85% new French oak. It's less opulent and more classically styled than the Aida, with hints of thyme, sage and bay leaf lacing through cassis and blackberries. Full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins—but plenty of them—it's both mouthfilling and mouth-drying, with a long, gently dusty finish. Again, it could use some time in the cellar, and then it will drink well for two decades or more.
