Vignobles Levet Cote Rotie La Chavaroche 2022
Vignobles Levet has deep roots in Côte-Rôtie, beginning in 1936 when Nicole Levet’s grandfather acquired vineyard holdings near Ampuis. The family began estate bottling in 1966, with Bernard and Nicole taking full control in the early 1980s, eventually passing the reins to their daughter Agnès in 2004. Today, they farm 3.5 hectares across some of the appellation’s most prized lieux-dits, using traditional methods like whole-cluster fermentation and aging in old oak.
Critical Acclaim

Released under the Peroline name in Europe, the 2022 Côte Rôtie La Chavaroche comes from the Chavaroche lieu-dit and is not destemmed. It's vinified all in stainless steel and spends a year in foudre, followed by a year in demi-muids. Red plums, blackberries, iron, bloody blue fruits, pepper, and rose petal notes all emerge from this incredibly complex, full-bodied Côte Rôtie. It has beautiful overall balance, tons of tannins, a good sense of freshness, and outstanding length. Hide bottles for a solid decade and enjoy over the following two decades. Drink 2035-2055.

Aromas of cassis, mulberries, spices, dark olives and flowers mingled with a somewhat wild character introduce the 2022 Cote Rotie La Chavaroche, a full-bodied, deep and layered wine with a fleshy, dense core of fruit, supple tannins perfectly framed by bright acids and a sappy, resonant and saline finish. Known outside the USA as La Péroline, it possesses a firm, slightly austere character wrapped in a singular, sappy texture that seamlessly blends density and charm.
