Poggio Lucina Rosso di Montalcino 2016
The color intensity of of this Rosso di Montalcino D.o.c. produced by Poggio Lucina is the first thing that we notice and also the most explicit. It’s a red that speaks about being young, vivacity and gentleness. A result of a round, structured Sangiovese featuring fresh aromas. In this area of Tuscany, located in the South part of Siena, the Di Donato’s family produces wine for each vineyard, and only after predicting how the wine will evolve, decides to enhance its peculiarities by blending all the wines in different proportions.
This selection also gives birth to the Rosso di Montalcino D.o.c. Poggio Lucina, which after the vilification ages in barrels, tonneaux, or barriques for one year and then refines for 4 months in the bottle. This happens only after the blending method of the Di Donato family: they sit at the table and after all the wines are tasted they decide the exact proportion of each one to create a lively, fresh wine to fall in love with.
