This Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is a 12 year old vintage-dated expression, barrelled in 1999 and bottled in 2011. The Birthday Bourbon are released on 2nd September annually to mark the birthday of the distillery's founder, George Garvin Brown.

With the Old Forester brand coming out of a decline nationwide in the early 1990s, parent company Brown-Forman decided to breath some life in this bourbon. They launched the Old Forester Birthday Bourbon in the late 1990s as a premium bourbon. It commemorates distillery founder George Garvin Brown: each year on his birthday in September, a new release hits the market. This 2011 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is the ninth release in the range. It was crafted from a 62 barrel batch. The barrels were made from the Northern and Ozark terroir sourced white oak. Stored in Brown-Forman warehouses H and I, these barrels were exposed to the extremes of heat and cold.

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
