Michters Toasted Barrel Bourbon 2024 Release
Michter’s is one of America’s oldest whiskey brands, with roots dating back to 1753. Originally founded in Pennsylvania under the name Shenk’s, it was established by Swiss Mennonite farmer John Shenk, who produced rye whiskey. The brand later became known as Bomberger’s, named after a subsequent owner.
The name “Michter’s” was introduced in the 20th century by distiller Lou Forman, combining the names of his sons, Michael and Peter. The distillery faced challenges during the Prohibition era and went bankrupt in 1989. However, the Michter’s brand was revived in the 1990s by Joseph J. Magliocco and Richard “Dick” Newman, who relocated operations to Kentucky, the heart of American whiskey.
