The 2012 "Empriente du Temps" is 100% old vine Carignan, from vines averaging 135 years in age (impressive!) planted to high-draining gravelly soils. It is made according to traditional methods to amplify the natural character and intensity of the fruit, with only four months aging in a combination of tank and barrel. This wine has the most gorgeous deep purple color, with aromas and flavors of sun-kissed blackberries, savory herb, and spicy licorice. Its concentration of fruit is balanced by fine acidity and an undercurrent of minerals. Elegant yet approachable, this is the perfect choice for grilled meats, charcuterie, and cheeses.
