Eagle Rare 10 Year Old 1980s 101 Proof 1.75 Liter with Wooden Swing Cradle, Old Prentice Distillery, Lawrenceburg
A rare 1.75-liter "handle" bottling of Eagle Rare 10 Year Old from the 1980s, presented at its original 101 proof with the period-correct wooden swing cradle.
This is a significant "dusty" bottle from the pre-Buffalo Trace era of the brand. It was distilled at the Old Prentice Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky- the historic distillery known today as Four Roses.
Introduced by Seagram's in 1975 and crafted by Master Distiller Charles L. Beam, Eagle Rare 101 was created to compete directly with Wild Turkey 101. This 1980s bottling represents that original Seagram-era expression, which was discontinued in 2005 when the proof was lowered to 90.
This bottling is noted for its classic, robust profile, which is distinct from modern Eagle Rare. It typically presents a rich, oak-forward palate with notes of dark fruit, caramel, vanilla, and a characteristic black tea and spice on a long, woody finish.
