Domaine Etienne Delarche 2023 Pernand Vergelesses Blanc Les Belles Filles

Philippe and Etienne Delarche run a family estate of 9 hectares in the villages of Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton. The harvest is hand-picked and the wines made in the traditional manner. The grapes are pressed and the must left to settle. Fermentation takes place in small vats at a temperature not exceeding 20°C for the Pernands while the Corton Charlemagnes go straight into barrels. All the wines spend a minimum of 12 months in barrels. They have subtle aromas and are well-balanced with spicy, mineral flavours. Young Etienne Delarche has been making ever more elegant wines since he took over the reins here.

It’s easy to miss the petite hamlet of Pernand-Vergelesses, hiding behind bulk of the noble Corton hill. Yet this Côte de Beaune village, with its impeccable vineyards, is a treasure trove of refined Burgundy wines.

For more than three generations, the Delarche family has crafted authentic, earthy and expressive Burgundy in Pernand, much under the radar of the Burgundy cognoscenti. Yet Delarche Burgundy offers a clarity and purity of flavor that is captivating; whites are creamy and concentrated, taking a cue from Corton-Charlemagne.

The vineyard’s high perch above the petite village of Pernand delivers a chiseled, dazzling white Burgundy full of tension, peachy fruit and mineral energy.

Depending on the bottle and destination, we use a combination of insulated foam box inserts, custom-fit air column bags, and heavy-weight cardboard shippers to prevent damage. For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
