Barclays Straight Bourbon Whiskey 1956 Pint
The nose is very expressive from the start, almost not like anything made today. It's a very well integrated combination of corn (with a bit of nail polish), pencil shavings, wood, maple syrup, tinned peach, and polished leather furniture.
The palate is quite spicy, not as rounded as the nose suggested, but with ample power. The wood tood over, with even some charcoal. Then: clove, cardamom, ginger, and juniper. Slightly, the palate gives space for leather notes to pop up again, just as corn, varnish, and a hint of fruit.
The finish is moderately long, with a spicy, slightly bitter finale (which is fine). Expect warming spices as on the palate, wood, varnish and corn.
