Production soon moved from small monasteries to expansive plants. The distillation process varied, but typically centered around a unique combination of herbs and spices that were infused into a rich spirit after maceration. Secrecy always remained integral - so much so that only a few family members of each generation knew the recipes, with different amaro variations including everything from flowers to roots. While the ingredients remained relatively unknown, its popularity grew rapidly. With over 300 available varieties, choosing one amaro is no simple feat. What sets Amaro Montenegro apart is its uniquely smooth, bittersweet flavor derived from our founder's secret recipe of 40 herbs and spices.

Yes, in most cases, the photograph on the product page is of the specific bottle for sale. If we have multiple quantities of the same item, the photo represents the general condition of all bottles under that SKU. Any significant condition issues, such as low ullage or bin-stained labels, will be clearly noted in the product description. Depending on the bottle and destination, we use a combination of insulated foam box inserts, custom-fit air column bags, and heavy-weight cardboard shippers to prevent damage. For added peace of mind, we offer shipping protection against loss or damage at checkout through OrderProtection.com.

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
