Burgundy Wines

View Full Description [+ Read More]

Burgundy produces some of France's most celebrated wines, built almost entirely on two grape varieties - Chardonnay in the white appellations and Pinot Noir in the reds. The region extends from Chablis in the north, where Kimmeridgian limestone soils yield taut, mineral-driven whites, through the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, and south into the Mâconnais. Domaine Hervé Azo and Christophe et Fils represent Chablis in its purest form, while the Christophe et Fils Mont de Milieu Premier Cru demonstrates the added texture and depth that classified vineyards can bring. Château Fuissé's Tête de Cuvée shows the richer, rounder character of Pouilly-Fuissé in the Mâconnais. Bouchard Père et Fils anchors the Côte de Beaune with a whites-focused Beaune Premier Cru, and Pierre André spans both red and white Burgundy from Hautes-Côtes de Nuits to village-level Chardonnay.
