Springbank is one of three remaining distilleries in the Campbeltown region on the Kintyre Peninsula of southwest Scotland. It produces single malt whisky under three different labels in distinct styles; Springbank, Longrow and Hazelburn.

Springbank was established in 1828 by Archibald and Hugh Mitchell, becoming the 14th licensed distillery in Campeltown. Today, it is the oldest independent and family-owned distillery in Scotland. 

This is arguably the finest expression of whisky, made at a single distillery from malted barley, water and yeast. The style is most closely associated with Scotland. Indeed, Single Malt Scotch Whisky is highly collectable and is easily one of the world's most revered liquids, with many examples held in equal esteem with the world's top wines.

The United Kingdom's Scotch Whisky Regulations stipulate that a Single Malt Scotch Whisky is produced from malted barley, distilled at one distillery with a pot still, and aged for at least three years in oak casks. The addition of coloring agent E150A is permitted.

Tradition may have as important a role as notions of terroir in differentiating single malts. A pure water source is usually unique to a distillery and is a source of pride, coming from local springs or rivers. The noted Japanese whisky Yamazaki is named for a suburb of Kyoto that is particularly famous for the quality of its water.

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
