On the nose it releases hints of white fruits, which open with acidulous carambola, followed by aromas of mint with a touch of basil leaves. In a play of delicious contrasts, this Champagne presents itself with an enveloping roundness of pastry and fruit compote. On the palate, these give way to a hint of smoky notes and thyme. As if by surprise, the chiseled and lively finish lingers with succulent notes of sea salt and grapefruit peel.
Each Krug Vintage celebrates the distinctive character of a particular year: a blend of its most expressive wines, enriched by more than ten years of rest in the cellars of the House of Krug. Each Vintage is different: it tells the story of the unique circumstances of the year, of everything that surprised, enchanted or moved the Tasting Committee in the room.
A perfect reflection of the magnificent contrasts of a climate full of paradoxes, Krug 2011 is the expression of an unpredictable year divided in two, with inverted seasons. A surprising story told by Krug that combines refinement and power, it was nicknamed “Vivacious Roundness” by the Tasting Committee. Krug 2011 is a fascinating blend of extraordinary freshness of Pinot Noir (46%), Chardonnay (37%) and Meunier (17%).
