"A super cool and moderate summer made for a wine that is bright with acid but had enough time to hang in the vineyard to gain color and power. The majority of the Pinot Noir comes from the acclaimed St Rita area giving the wine a beautiful red fruit component while the Santa Maria fruit gives it an unmistakable savory California pinot nose. Complex enough to make you think but still easy to drink. It’s a drinkable wine but one that will go with so many types of dishes. Don’t be afraid to test the waters with a big steak, this wine can handle it!"

Fundamental Wines is a project that winemaker Joey Tensley and wife, Jennifer Tensley, have been talking about for some time. As owners of the highly-rated Tensley Wines label, the couple has spent the last 15 years traveling to wine regions around the world. During their travels they were consistently impressed not only by the higher end wines they tasted but also by the many quality value wines they came across. These wines truly are living up to their promise to over-deliver on quality for the price.

They decided to make a great quality value wine of their own. One that would be priced to enjoy every day. One that would sustain the quality and style the original Tensley brand has maintained for twenty years. One they would be proud to put their name on.

They chose “Fundamental Wines” as the name for the new brand of Joey Tensley signature wines. They felt it perfectly described the philosophy of the brand – make fundamentally sound, straightforward wines that over-deliver for the price on every level: quality, packaging and every day availability.

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
