This year’s iteration of Barrel Aged Malort, aka BAM, is 35% ABV and is a blend of Malort aged 1-5 years in bourbon barrels. This year’s blend has a strong oak backbone that helps soften Malort’s “bite,” which makes it, dare we say “sippable.”

Jeppson’s Malort is Chicago’s local beskbrannvin – a style of bitter, wormwood-based, Swedish schnapps. First developed during medieval times for its supposed medicinal benefits, it’s traditionally associated with the farms of Skane, in Sweden, where wormwood grows wild. In the early 1900s, it was the most ubiquitous drink in Sweden and accompanied the nearly 1 million Swedes who immigrated to the U.S. during that period. One of those immigrants was a man from Ystad, Skane named Carl Jeppson.

For wine, we recommend storing bottles on their side in a dark, vibration-free environment with good humidity, ideally between 55-60°F. Spirits like whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place (60-70°F) away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.
